Monday, November 26, 2012, marked the 50th anniversary of women being allowed to vote in elections in The Bahamas. To commemorate that day, the House and Senate held a special joint session of Parliament.

Minister of Social Services & Community Development, Melanie Griffin, discusses the historical significance of the joint session, the 50th anniversary of the women’s suffrage movement in The Bahamas, and the challenges still facing women in the country.

And, just before she heads off this weekend to Las Vegas for next month’s Miss Universe pageant, Celeste Marshall, Miss Universe Bahamas, talks about her time with the crown so far, and her preparation for the pageant.
