‘Save the Bays’ Coalition members Romauld Ferreira and Joe Darville passionately discuss their concerns about the impact the Resorts World Bimini development is having on that tiny island. They say the finally-released Environmental Impact Assessment supports and reinforces many of their worries. The Coalition continues to push for an Environmental Protection Act and a Freedom of Information Act, and is encouraging everyone to sign its petition at savethebays.bs.

“In The News”, FNM Leader Dr. Hubert Minnis says “VAT will seriously impair the already weak, uncompetitive, and struggling Bahamian economy, and harm and diminish the quality of life of every Bahamian!” In a statement released yesterday, the FNM is calling on the government to “come clean” on why it seems to be rushing to implement the new taxation system. We get reaction to this latest position from Minnis, who just recently said he thought the government should delay for at least a year the implementation of VAT.

And Leslie Miller strikes again! In the House of Assembly Wednesday night, Miller defended web shop owners, saying many have made the country proud, and that they should not be ridiculed as hoodlums or compared to gangsters. He applauded them for their “ingenuity”. Miller also lamented his lack of success at playing numbers!! – which drew laughter from fellow House members. We play the shocking audio from the House, and our Twitter followers have their say!
