Morning Blend 16 April, 2014

We discuss Bipolar Disorder, the mental illness characterized by serious shifts in mood, alternating between extreme depression and elevated/agitated “mania”. Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre Nursing Officer Patrice Hall tells us about some of the warning signs and symptoms and the treatment options.
Also, we get details about Sandilands’ upcoming Push-a-thon/Walk-a-thon. Tonya Griffin and Charlene Davis tell us this 3rd Annual event will help raise much needed funds toward the purchase of a wheelchair bus. Registration is only $10, and can be done at the Geriatrics Hospital or the SRC Business Office, or you can contact the Sandilands PR Department at 364-9618. The event is set for Saturday, April 26, at 7am.
And The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Dwight Armbrister tells us that each month, a different department within the ministry is being highlighted. For April, it’s his ‘Religious Tourism’ Department, and a “Golden Jubilee Concert” is planned. The event will feature some of the biggest Bahamian gospel acts from throughout the country. But it will also feature Grammy Award-winning American gospel artist Hezekiah Walker. Armbrister says this massive concert is FREE. It’s set for Clifford Park, Good Friday, April 18, at 7pm.
