October 10, 2014:
Today is World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme is “Living with schizophrenia”. The World Health Organization estimates that at least 26 million people are living with schizophrenia. Nurse Joeanna Curry talks about the signs and symptoms, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options for someone with the illness, and discusses what friends and family can do to help.
Nurse Curry is also the Chairperson of the local World Mental Health Day Symposium going on today at New Life Christian Centre on Prince Charles Drives in New Providence, 8am to 4pm. She says the public is invited to get information, share their experiences and ask their questions about schizophrenia and other mental health issues.

October 6, 2014: We speak with Justice Ruby Nottage of the Constitutional Commission and Attorney Wence Martin about the proposed gender equality bills. It’s still unclear when exactly the now-postponed referendum will be held next year. We discuss the Commission’s consultation with the religious community, and the ongoing education campaign. We also ask whether the referendum issues can be addressed through legislation, rather than amending the constitution.
