Morning Blend 2 September, 2014

September 2, 2014:Bahamian fishermen say the harvest for this year’s crawfish season is off to its worst start in years, if not ever! They say the main reason for this is poaching, primarily from illegal fishermen from the Dominican Republic, whom they claim disregard the various closed seasons, and instead illegally fish year round. The Bahamas Commercial Fishers Alliance’s Adrian LaRoda and Keith Carroll outline the dire situation for Bahamian fishermen throughout the country, and warn that the problems may escalate to violence.
