Today on MORNING BLEND:
One year since the Gambling Referendum, we revisit some of what was said in the months leading up to the poll, and what has been said since that date; we replay audio clips from interviews with everyone from political leaders to web shop operators.
We also speak LIVE with Theresa Moxey-Ingraham, spokesperson for the “Vote Yes” campaign, and Pastor Mario Moxey, with the “Vote No” group.
“In The News”, State Finance Minister Michael Halkitis says slow public feedback to the government’s white paper on VAT last February is partially responsible for the delayed VAT legislation. We are puzzled by the comment, as the white paper provided just basic information about how value-added tax systems work in general.
And Central Bank Governor Wendy Craigg says if the web shop sector is to be allowed to exist, then it has to be regulated.
And one year after the Gambling Referendum, Ministry of Finance information suggests there are currently at least 251 web shops run by 35 different companies.
