The 2015 #IAAFWorldRelays Bahamas are now just under 3 weeks away. Lionel Haven, Managing Director, Local Organizing Committee, discusses the lesson’s learned from last year’s inaugural event – which was also held here in Nassau – plans for this year’s event, and the excitement about Usain Bolt’s expected participation for Team Jamaica and Justin Gatlin for Team USA.
Additionally, Haven confirms that the next World Relay event in 2017 will also be held here in The Bahamas.
Haven also gives us ticket information, and tells us last year’s mascot “Breezy” The Grouper has been retired, in favor of a new mascot to be named “Bingo”.
Local residents will be able to get a preview this weekend of relay excitement with the High School Relays, Friday at 6:30pm and Saturday at 3:30pm.
The World Relays are set for May 2 & 3 at 7pm at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.
