July 21, 2014:
Social Services Minister Melanie Griffin discusses the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities) Bill, 2014. She talks about how the bill seeks to eliminate discrimination, equalize opportunities, and rehabilitate and habilitate persons with disabilities in the country. She also gives details about the establishment of a National Commission for persons with disabilities.
Griffin assures us that this Bill will be exacted before the end of the year. The legislation calls for many provisions to accommodate persons with disabilities be made within 6 months to 2 years of the Act coming into force.
