Today on MORNING BLEND:

We have an eye-opening discussion on why sexual harassment continues to be so contentious and misunderstood in The Bahamas and in the world. Donna Nicolls of The Crisis Centre defines the problem and discusses the ongoing challenges in getting both men and women to understand the acceptable boundaries.

And “In The News”, listeners react to the fingerprinting of foreign teachers at a NP high school; the Teachers Union claims these teachers were put on a bus yesterday and taken to the Central Detective Unit, and fingerprinted at a cost of $100 per teacher. The Department of Education says it’s just investigating and vetting all expatriate teachers whose contracts have expired.
Also, Prime Minister Perry Christie’s latest comments on BTC. And more reaction to the PM’s regrets about the gambling referendum.

Today on MORNING BLEND:

Ife Burnside wants to see more people using the internet to build successful (or more successful) businesses. Unfortunately, she believes Bahamian business people, companies and entrepreneurs are lagging far behind those in the region and all over the world in utilizing websites and social media to maximize business growth and development.
Burnside’s company, “Empowered Web Business Training Institute”, is offering a free introductory session to a ‘Building an Online Business’ course. It’s set for Thursday, January 23, from 4:30-6:30pm at the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture on Thompson Blvd. Log on to getonlinebahamas.com to register and for more information about the course.

The shock and the awe following PM Christie intimating he regrets putting the web shop numbers gambling issue to a referendum, instead of moving immediately to regulate the industry himself.
We also discuss Bank of the Bahamas’ assurances of the soundness and security of the bank, and its statement “seeking to set the record straight” following recent articles in “The Punch”.

The 2013-2014 flu season has been particularly hard on young and middle-aged adults in the US. Authorities there are reporting a number of deaths, and say there have been more than 2,600 influenza hospitalizations since October. And it appears the main flu virus this year is H1N1, the same one that caused worldwide panic back in 2009.
In our health medical series, “Doc Talk with Dr. C”, Dr. James Constantakis discusses why EVERYONE needs to get a flu shot – even now, in the middle of the flu season. He also dispels some of the myths about colds and the flu, and discusses treatment options and ways to prevent the flu.

And “In The News”, officials say 121 illegal migrants were arrested following Immigration spot-checks yesterday. But listeners appear to have mixed feelings on the roadblocks and the entire process.
And reaction to yesterday’s unrest at Melia Nassau Beach resort.
