Seven months after the government’s new immigration policy went into effect, we discuss the impact this has had on Haitian/Bahamian relations. Our guests, Robert Dieudonne and Luckner Cira, also talk about Haitian-Bahamian identity, illegal immigration, and the rumored “no go” zones for Bahamians in this country.
We also get details about their new programs on Guardian Radio. Airing under the umbrella, “Voices of the Diaspora”, the programs will examine Haitian-Bahamian issues from various perspectives, including news and music/entertainment. The programs premiere Sunday, June 21, and will air Sundays, Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning at 7:30pm.

In the studio with host Amanda Coulson are Tatiana Clare, filmmaker, and Nikita Shiel-Rolle, marine biologist. The energetic young Bahamians have returned home to help raise consciousness on social issues through film and community outreach. Ms. Clare has recently finished her documentary ‘Waves,” a collaborative project with Ms. Shiel-Rolle, about our underwater environment and what we can do to protect it for future generations. Ms. Clare speaks on film as a positive art form for social change; the film will have its premiere at NAGB on Thursday June 11th with a Q&A afterwards.

NAGB’s Blank Canvas airs Wednesday nights at 6:30pm.http://www.nagb.org.bs or Twitter @nagbahamas
