There is a perception that Bahamians do not appreciate Bahamian music. In fact, the perception is that young Bahamians seeking to enter this aspect of the performing arts are less inclined to create what many consider the indigenous Bahamian sound.

This programme provides a look into the Bahamian music industry through the lens of young Bahamians.

What genres of music are appealing to the Bahamian youth? Do they have an appreciation for Bahamian music and its evolution over the years? What type music are young Bahamians performing and recording? Are they considered Bahamian and how do they fit into the genre we call “Bahamian music”.

This programme will primarily feature young Bahamian musicians and music lovers to share their perspective on this aspect of the Bahamian culture. It will be discussion interspersed with Bahamian music both past and present.

It will occasionally feature the more seasoned Bahamian musicians both past and present.

It will also feature a spotlight segment. This weekly segment will introduce a young Bahamian musician and feature his/her music.

This programme is geared toward encouraging an appreciation among young Bahamians for the evolution of Bahamian music, while at the same time providing an opportunity for them to contribute to the further growth and expansion of this industry.
