Bahamas Union of Teachers President Belinda Wilson tells us 95 percent of the union’s issues have been resolved, following a meeting last week with the Minister of Labour. However, teachers continue with their on a work-to-rule. Their outstanding issues remain union access to school campuses for meetings, and the ongoing health concerns and structural problems with Stephen Dillet and Uriah McPhee Primary Schools; the former issue will have to be settled by the Supreme Court in January.
Also, Emanji Circus Arts is back with their show “Echoes – A Tribute to 40 Years of Bahamian Entertainment”. Founder/Director of this first-ever Bahamian circus, Jarvis Grant tells us about his group of jugglers, contortionists, clowns, mimes, tumblers and acrobats, which include Shonte Cargill and Marnarrey Lightbourn. The show runs December 19-21 at 8pm at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children (under 12).
