Morning Blend 16 December, 2013

Today on MORNING BLEND:

Velma Burrows with the Physically Challenged Children’s Committee discusses the many struggles of the organization, and the challenges facing the physically disabled – especially children – in the country today. While there has been much progress since the committee was formed as The Crippled Children’s Committee back in 1954, Burrows talks about the astoundingly limited number of opportunities for the disabled, particularly in the job market. And there are still far too many disabled-unfriendly buildings and structures, despite mandates for change.
The Committee is this week (Dec. 21) drawing its annual raffle- its primary fundraising activity. So far, sales of the $10 raffle tickets have been slow. Tickets are available at most banks. To purchase tickets, to volunteer or to get more information about the Committee, you can call 322-8317 or 428-9603.

“In The News”, we try to determine the real reason the crime situation still seems to be out of control.

Plus, our “brave” choice for “Quote of the Week”.
