Morning Blend 27 March, 2014

The first ever ‘National Conclave of Chambers of Commerce in The Bahamas’ will take place next week. Edison Sumner, CEO, Bah. Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation, gives us a preview of some of the hot button issues scheduled to be discussed, including value-added tax and financial & fiscal reform, and the need for a national economic development plan.
The conclave is designed to bring together representatives from each of the Family Island Chambers to discuss matters of national importance, and those of their jurisdictions.
The conclave is slated for April 2-3 at Superclubs Breezes. To register or get more info about the event log on to chamberconclave.com or call 322-2145.

“In The News”, we discuss NEMA’s tsunami “test” warning that set of “panic” in parts of the country yesterday, and MP Picewell Forbes’ apology in the House for laughing during Leslie Miller’s very bad “joke” about beating an ex-girlfriend.
We also get reaction to the proposed new rules and fines regarding derelict and abandoned vehicles, and to DPM Philip Davis’ defending PM Christie’s intervention in the Lightbourne home repossession issue.
