Morning Blend 19 May, 2014

May 19, 2014:
Melanie Griffin, Minister of Social Services and Yamacraw MP, and Senator Cheryl Bazard, speak about women in politics in The Bahamas. We discuss why in a country where women dominate nearly every field and sector, there are still so few women in frontline politics, with only 10 of the 56 parliamentarians in the House and Senate being women.
This week, the Bahamas Chapter of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Women’s Association will host a two-day regional (Caribbean, Americas & Atlantic Region) conference here in Nassau. Under the theme: “Women: The Voice, The Vote, The Victory”, the conference takes place on May 22 & 23, at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort. For more info, log on to cpa-caaregion.org
