Morning Blend 10 February, 2015

‪#‎MorningBlend‬ on February 10, 2015: February is Heart Month in The Bahamas, and we discuss heart disease in the country. Cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr. Duane Sands highlights the grim realities of the typical Bahamian diet and largely sedentary lifestyle, and how these are all contributing to chronic non-communicable diseases, and thus, heart disease.
R.E. Barnes, Chairman of the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation discusses the organization’s ongoing quest to find funding for pediatric congenital heart surgeries, and we get details on the educational work of the Bahamas Heart Association from Thelma Johnson.
Olivia Porteous also gives us all the details about the Foundation’s major fundraiser, the 51st Annual Heart Ball, set for Saturday (Valentine’s Day) at 7:15pm at the Melia Nassau Beach. Tickets are $250. Call 327-0806.
