Are Bahamian men now an oppressed and marginalized minority in this country? Our guest Dr. Robin Roberts thinks so. In today’s ‘Men’s Week’ discussion, Dr. Roberts says a new “men’s movement” is urgently needed to rescue today’s men, before they fall behind even further.

Also, the new show “The Kreyol Connection” premieres tonight on Guardian Radio. Host Louby Georges says the bilingual show will examine issues affecting the Haitian community in The Bahamas. Georges also discusses the criticism he, the show and the station have already received about the program. It airs LIVE every Thursday 7:30pm to 9pm on 96.9FM.

And “In The News”, we discuss overcrowding at the Fox Hill Prison, bail and the judicial system, and the calls for the closure of cash for gold type businesses.

As ‘Men’s Week’ continues, we seek to understand why the “bad boy” lifestyle is so appealing to so many males. David Williams with Uplifting Men Ministries – who works with many prison inmates – gives his views on why he thinks this is the case, and what we need to do about it.

Also, what are the biggest health concerns for men? In “Doc Talk with Dr. C”, Dr. James Constantakis guides us through what men need to look out for in their teen years straight through their 70s and beyond.

We also discuss the final day of the Budget Debate in the House, and the proposed crime-fighting initiatives that were outlined.

It’s ‘Men’s Week’ on the show, as we begin examining issues affecting men in our society. Clever Duncombe, Bahamian Fathers for Children Everywhere, joins us for a discussion about responsibility, particularly regarding men and their children.

Also, “Elite Model Look 2013″ comes to The Bahamas. The model search is looking for young ladies at least 5’8” tall, between ages 14 and 22. Local event Director Tessa-Simone Lightbourne, along with Jean-Pierre Begon, Vice President, Elite International, and John Bilboa, Director of Elite Latin & South America, give us details about the local search, and what it takes to be an “Elite” model in today’s global fashion industry. For more information, log on to www.elitemodellookbahamas.com

And we analyze FNM Leader Dr. Hubert Minnis’ contribution to the Budget Debate, in which he criticized the government on crime and the economy. We also discuss the latest on the situation with the graduating class at St. John’s College.

In light of the Christian Council’s about-face on marital rape, and the announcement that it would support its criminalization, we have a passionate discussion with callers about marital rape.

We also discuss Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell’s state on the US Embassy’s explanation for the suspension of non-immigrant visa services: that the 74-year old Vice Consul who was assaulted Sunday is “one of a specialized group of rare experts in her field”, and that the US government was “challenged in her absence to find the level of expertise which is reposed to her.”

And the team from Anatol Rodgers High School became the first public school to win the annual IBS Build-a-Bridge Challenge this past April. These 10th and 11th graders competed against 20 private and public schools from throughout the country on the Popsicle stick competition. Of the five boys and one girl on the team, the five boys join us in studio: Keishawn Roye, Lorenzo Townsend, Colin McKenzie, Reanzo Smith and Adonis Fernander. Teacher and Mentor Oliver Lynch, and IBS Engineer Greg Williams, also join us.
